Desposyni
"Desposyni" is from 'δεσπόσυνοι' meaning "of or belonging
to the Master or the Lord."
to the Master or the Lord."
The term Desposyni [des-po-zee-knee] is applied to purported descendants of Jesus and his surrounding family, all of whom were of the House of David. Clearly this is an explosive claim in certain circles because it directly threatens the Roman Church’s claim of rule through an Apostolic Succession rather than through inheritance via the House of David. Furthermore it indicates that there were heirs to Jesus’ claim to be the King of the Jews, a claim that has been supported by a number of more-adventuresome scholars recently. And the concept that Jesus had a wife/consort and children gives a very different picture, one of a human and one who could well be spiritually a son of God but certainly not physically.

Martin, Malachi. The Decline and Fall of the Roman Church. New York: Bantam, 1983. 30-31.
"A meeting between Silvester and the Jewish Christian (sic) leaders took place in 318....The vital interview was not, as far as we know, recorded, but the issues were very well known, and it is probable the Joses, the oldest of the Christian Jews (sic), spoke on behalf of the desposyni and the rest.
That most hallowed name, desposyni, had been respected by all believers in the first century and a half of Christian history. The word literally meant, in Greek, "belonging to the Lord." It was reserved uniquely for Jesus' blood relatives. Every part of the ancient Jewish Christian church had always been governed by a desposynos, and each of them carried one of the names traditional in Jesus' family---Zachary, Joseph, John, James, Joses, Simeon, Matthias, and so on. But no one was ever called Jesus. Neither Silvester nor any of the thirty-two popes before him, nor those succeeding him, ever emphasized that there were at least three well-known and authentic lines of legitimate blood descent from Jesus' own family. One from Joachim and Anna, Jesus' maternal grandparents. One from Elizabeth, first cousin of Jesus' mother, Mary, and Elizabeth's husband, Zachary. And one from Cleophas and his wife, who also was a first cousin of Mary.
There were, of course, numerous blood descendants of Joseph, Mary's husband, but only those persons in bloodline with Jesus through his mother qualified as desposyni...."
This passage, of course, reflects the Catholic view that Miryam and Yosef had no children. So while Martin exposes the Catholic church, he still promotes its mythology and the myth of some continuity between Paulistic religon and Messianic Yahwism. The desposyni were soon to be dispossessed by Silvester who had his authority from Emperor so much responsible for Christianity as it is today, Constantine.
"Ever since the Emperor Hadrian had conquered Jerusalem in the year 135, all Jews, and that included Jewish Christians, had been forbidden to enter Jerusalem under pain of instant death...."
Gentile Christians then had Jerusalem, that is Aelia Capitolina, as their own.
"They therefore asked Silvester to revoke his confirmation of Greek Christian bishops in Jerusalem, in Antioch, in Ephesus, in Alexandria, and to name instead desposynos bishops...."
Rome fully ruled these areas and Silvester was given authority in religious enforcement.
"Silvester curtly and decisively dismissed the claims of the Jewish Christians. He told them that the mother church was now in Rome, with the bones of the Apostle Peter, and he insisted that they accept Greek bishops to lead them.
It was the last known discussion between the Jewish Christians of the old mother church and the non-Jewish Christians of the new mother church. By his adaptation, Silvester, backed by Constantine, had decided that the message of Jesus was to be couched in Western terms by Western minds on an imperial model.
The Jewish Christians had no place in such a church structure. They managed to survive until the first decades of the fifth century. Then, one by one, they disappear.... But most of them die---by the sword (Roman garrisons hunted them as outlaws), by starvation (they were deprived of their small farms and could not or would not adapt themselves to life in the big cities), by the attrition of zero birthrate....The desposyni have ceased to exist. Everywhere, the Roman pope commands respect and exercises authority."
Constantine and his lackey, Silvester, were justly rewarded for their evil.
"...within twenty years of Silvester's death, the Roman legions were defending Constantinople, which Constantine had only finished building. The mortar was still wet....Constantine's dynasty lasted sixty years, during most of which time he was busy repelling Goths, Franks, and Alemanni from the borders of the empire. (All the effort he put into building Constantinople didn't help much.) After his death in 337, his three sons succeeded him. The last of these, Constantius, died in 361. By the time of Emperor Gratian's death (383), the Balkans had been ceded to the Goths. By 405, the Romans had evacuated Britain. Soon Spain fell to the Vandals. In August of 410, Rome itself was plundered by the Goths under Alaric."
The sweetest part of this justice is that many of these "barbarians" were Arian Christians! Arians denied the divinity of "Christ."

Josephus lists 14 Men named Jesus in his Antiquity, and War of the Jews, (I have this in case anyone wants info). They are almost all priests-some of who had been 'deprived' (as Jo says) of the priesthood. The title was revoked and given to someone else-usually priests son. They are: Jesus, son of Phabet, (D for deprived), Jesus of Ananus, Jesus(Jason), Jesus, son of Sapphias the governor of Tiberius, Jesus, brother of Onias (D), Jesus, son of Gamliel(this Jesus was high priest) Jesus, son of Damneus, made high priest, Jesus, son of Gamala, Jesus, son of Nun, became the successor of Moses (Joshua), Jesus, son of Saphat, ringleader of 'robbers', Jesus , son of Thebutus (priest) , Jesus, son of Josedek, and Jesus Christ.
The early Christian Church for well over a hundred years was led by "The Desposyni" (Which means, "Belonging To The Lord") -- The Descendants Of King David
Who were The Desposyni?
Sextus Julius Africanus's reference to the Desposyni is preserved in Eusebius of Caesarea's Ecclesiastical History:
For the relatives of our Lord according to the flesh, whether with the desire of boasting or simply wishing to state the fact, in either case truly, have handed down the following account... But as there had been kept in the archives up to that time the genealogies of the Hebrews as well as of those who traced their lineage back to proselytes, such as Achior the Ammonite and Ruth the Moabitess, and to those who were mingled with the Israelites and came out of Egypt with them, Herod, inasmuch as the lineage of the Israelites contributed nothing to his advantage, and since he was goaded with the consciousness of his own ignoble extraction, burned all the genealogical records, thinking that he might appear of noble origin if no one else were able, from the public registers, to trace back his lineage to the patriarchs or proselytes and to those mingled with them, who were called Georae. A few of the careful, however, having obtained private records of their own, either by remembering the names or by getting them in some other way from the registers, pride themselves on preserving the memory of their noble extraction. Among these are those already mentioned, called Desposyni, on account of their connection with the family of the Saviour. Coming from Nazara and Cochaba, villages of Judea, into other parts of the world, they drew the aforesaid genealogy from memory and from the book of daily records as faithfully as possible. Whether then the case stand thus or not no one could find a clearer explanation, according to my own opinion and that of every candid person. And let this suffice us, for, although we can urge no testimony in its support, we have nothing better or truer to offer. In any case the Gospel states the truth." And at the end of the same epistle he adds these words: "Matthan, who was descended from Solomon, begat Jacob. And when Matthan was dead, Melchi, who was descended from Nathan begat Eli by the same woman. Eli and Jacob were thus uterine brothers. Eli having died childless, Jacob raised up seed to him, begetting Joseph, his own son by nature, but by law the son of Eli. Thus Joseph was the son of both." Eusebius of Caesarea, Historia Ecclesiae, 1:7:11, 1:7:13-14
This was written in the early third century, and it corresponds EXACTLY with The King Milesius Legends of "Milesius and Scota" (Niul and Scota) when it says "And to those who were mingled with The Israelites and came out of Egypt with them"...
Eusebius has also preserved an extract from a work by Hegesippus (c.110-c.180), who wrote five books (now lost except for some quotations by Eusebius) of Commentaries on the Acts of the Church. The extract refers to the period from the reign of Domitian (81-96) to that of Trajan (98-117), includes the statement that two Desposyni brought before Domitian later became leaders of the churches:[9]
There still survived of the kindred of the Lord the grandsons of Judas, who according to the flesh was called his brother. These were informed against, as belonging to the family of David, and Evocatus brought them before Domitian Caesar: for that emperor dreaded the advent of Christ, as Herod had done. So he asked them whether they were of the family of David; and they confessed they were. Next he asked them what property they had, or how much money they possessed. They both replied that they had only 9000 denaria between them, each of them owning half that sum; but even this they said they did not possess in cash, but as the estimated value of some land, consisting of thirty-nine plethra only, out of which they had to pay the dues, and that they supported themselves by their own labour. And then they began to hold out their hands, exhibiting, as proof of their manual labour, the roughness of their skin, and the corns raised on their hands by constant work. Being then asked concerning Christ and His kingdom, what was its nature, and when and where it was to appear, they returned answer that it was not of this world, nor of the earth, but belonging to the sphere of heaven and angels, and would make its appearance at the end of time, when He shall come in glory, and judge living and dead, and render to every one according to the course of his life. Thereupon Domitian passed no condemnation upon them, but treated them with contempt, as too mean for notice, and let them go free. At the same time he issued a command, and put a stop to the persecution against the Church. When they were released they became leaders of the churches, as was natural in the case of those who were at once martyrs and of the kindred of the Lord. And, after the establishment of peace to the Church, their lives were prolonged to the reign of Trajan. Eusebius of Caesarea, Historia Ecclesiae, 3:20
A meeting between Sylvester (Pope Sylvester I) and the Jewish Christian leaders took place in 318....The vital interview was not, as far as we know, recorded, but the issues were very well known, and it is probable the Joses, the oldest of the Christian Jews, spoke on behalf of the Desposyni and the rest. ...That most hallowed name, desposyni, had been respected by all believers in the first century and a half of Christian history. The Desposyni are the relatives of Jesus Christ. It is believed that Christ’s relatives became followers of his teach-ings and later the leaders of the early Christian church into the third-century. In the New Testament there are several mentions of his “brethren.” Some of these brethren are mentioned by name – primarily James, Joseph, Simon, and Jude. But the nature of the term brethren has been the subject of theological debate since the earliest times of the Bible. In the Semitic languages brethren may be used loosely, suggesting not just the blood relatives, but also step-relatives, distant and near relatives, and perhaps even acquaintances.
It is believed that Jesus had one or more sisters. Perhaps the most important alleged member of Jesus’s immediate family was “the brother of the Lord” James – known often as Saint James the Just. He was the first Bishop of Jerusa-lem and the author of the Epistle of James in the New Tes-tament. With the publication of the Da Vinci Code in 2003 there was a renewed interest and debate into the bloodline of Jesus Christ.

Bloodline Descendancy of Desposyni from Yeshua’s family
There was an authentic line of legitimate blood descendancy from
Jesus’ own family. They retain true spiritual authority.
It was recognized but never emphasized by ” Pope” Silvester , nor the 32 bishops before him or those that followed, that there were at least three lines.
The Desposyni, Jewish relatives and followers of Yeshua’s House of David, had been respected by all believers and followers in the 1st century and a half after Yeshua had left his brother James as head of all the church as Bishop in Jerusalem when He went to prepare for us our home that He would bring back with Him on His return.
All the desposyni had carried traditional names from the family of Yeshua; John (Yohanan), James=Jacob (Ya’akov), Joses, Zachary, Joseph, Simeon, Matthias…etc.
Now there were at least three well known and authentic bloodlines from Yeshua’s own family that qualified His relatives as Desposyni. One, from Yeshua’s maternal grandparents, Joachim and Anna.
Another from Yeshua’s cousins, Elizabeth and Zachary, parents of His cousin John the Baptist and 1st cousins to his mother, Mary (Miriam).
The other were also 1st cousins to His mother Mary, Cleophas and his wife.
According to Malachi Martin (pg. 31, The decline and fall of the Roman Church) , Peter and Paul broke with the Desposyni and the Jerusalem Church in 49 AD at the first council over disagreement over gentile convert’s requirements of circumcision , dietary laws, and adhering to Mosaic Law. Consider that Martin was a Paulist priest and that he was taught in a Paulist seminary. He was either blinded by this indoctrination or willingly promoted half truths. Now this is a good thing for we will now be able to look at the source and see that he was in error in different areas. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt as to his complicity.
Paul of course was admonished by James and the elders, who included the original Apostles who lived with and were taught by Yeshua , when he went to Jerusalem(Acts 21;17-26). They made him participate in a ritual purification. They told him to stop instructing them to turn away from Mosaic Law. “They” were not the gentiles but the “Jews” who lived amongst the gentiles.
Remember that this book of Acts was written by a gentile supposedly named Luke.
He was definitely a gentile but whether it was actually Luke is up in the air.
That is why Acts is directed and written in the context towards Gentiles, using words that James would have not used, primarily the word “Jew”.
Here is where James admonishes Paul for instructing the “Jews” to turn away from the Mosaic Law, circumcision and the traditions and customs. Remember that it was Yeshua that instructed us in His words that the “Law” would not pass away, meaning it was valid forever…
“Brother, you see how many thousands of believers there are from amongst the Jews and they are all zealous observers of the law. And they have been informed that you teach all the Jews living amongst the gentiles to turn away from Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or to observe their customary practices.”
This was not about gentile converts. This was about the Jews living amongst the gentiles. The circumcision wasn’t about adult gentile converts but Jewish children.
This wasn’t about gentiles following the customs of the Jews. It was about Jews living in accordance to their own customs.
So what did James indicate to the gentiles . He indicates that specifically. And it didn’t have anything to do with circumcision or traditions. It was implied that they adhere to Mosaic Law which only included the perfect Ten Commandments. Here is what James said to Paul( not Peter) concerning the gentiles…
“As for the gentiles who have come to believe we have sent them our decision that they should abstain from meat sacrificed to idols, from blood , from the meat of strangled animals and from unlawful marriages,”
Peter was never admonished except by Yeshua. Peter didn’t separate himself from the Desposyni along with Paul. Peter was a Jew. Peter lived with Yeshua. Peter was married. Peter was taught by Yeshua. He adhered to the mosaic Law and to Palestinian Judaic custom. He loved Yeshua and those that Yeshua loved.
Why would Martin make this assertion that Peter and Paul both separated themselves from the Desposynic Jerusalem Church and then left and went to Rome “together”?
Because Paul’s theology would never have took hold without the attachment of Peter’s name .
This is just one of the reasons that the Paulist Roman Church needed to destroy all documentation of the original texts of the Gospels. Why they had to discredit many different true sources by lumping them together with truly heretical sources, theologies and doctrines. Why they, early on , destroyed the genealogical records of the Desposyni.
For the Church was hijacked by Satanists. And their father.
As Yeshua had boldly told them, “ You do the works of your father.” So they said to Him, “We are not illegitimate! We have one father, even God!”
Yeshua said to them, “If God were your Father you would love me, for I came forth and am from God; for neither have I come on my own, He sent me. Why can you not understand what I say? For you cannot bear to hear my word. You belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out his desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and held no truth for there is no truth in him. When he lies he speaks in nature for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8;41-44
Satan had promised that he would come when Yeshua least expected and at the most opportune time. But he was a coward also. So he waited for the Master to leave to assault His children and lead them astray again through manipulation and ignorance. Enticing them, through their arrogant ego, with mammon, undue power and prestige.
The Dragon could not mislead the Desposyni. They would not compromise and worship it, so it went to war against them.
“When the Dragon saw that it had been thrown down to earth, it pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.
But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle, so that she could fly to her place in the desert, where, far from the serpent, she was taken care of for a year, two years, and a half-year.
The serpent, however, spewed a torrent of water out of his mouth after the woman to sweep her away with the current.
But the earth helped the woman and opened its mouth and swallowed the flood that the dragon spewed out of its mouth.
Then the Dragon became angry with the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring, those who keep God’s commandments and bear witness to Yeshua (Savior God). It took its position on the sand of the sea.” Rev 12;13-18

"Now, all these myth-pictures represent a drama of the human psyche on the further side of consciousness, showing man as both the one to be redeemed and the redeemer. The first formulation is Christian, the second alchemical. In the first case man attributes the need of redemption to himself and leaves the work of redemption, the actual opus, to the autonomous divine figure; in the latter case man takes upon himself the duty of carrying out the redeeming opus, and attributes the state of suffering and consequent need of redemption to the anima mundi imprisoned in matter. In both cases redemption is a work. In Christianity it is the life and death of the God-man which, by a unique sacrifice, bring about the reconciliation of man, who craves redemption and is sunk in materiality, with God. The mystical effect of the God-man's self-sacrifice extends, broadly speaking, to all men, though it is efficacious only for those who submit through faith or are chosen by divine grace; but in the Pauline acceptance it acts as an apocatastasis and extends also to non-human creation in general, which, in its imperfect state, awaits redemption like the merely natural man." The family of Jesus in the NT (although their relationship is not always given) are;
Mary, his mother
Joseph the carpenter, his (step) father
James, Joses/ph, Simon & Jude/as, the brothers of Jesus
Mary and one or more other (unnamed), sisters of Jesus
Mary/Salome, the sister of Mary the mother of Jesus
Zebedee, the husband of Salome
John & James, the sons of Zebedee
Alphaeus/Clopas, the brother of Joseph the carpenter
Levi, Simeon, James & Joses, the sons of Alphaeus/Clopas
Mary, the wife of Clopas
Joseph of Arimathea, a great uncle of Jesus
Simon the Leper, a cousin of Joseph the carpenter
Mary, Martha & Lazarus, children of Simon the Leper
Elizabeth the Levite, a cousin to Mary, the wife of Joseph the carpenter
Zecharias the priest, husband of Elizabeth
John the Baptist, son of Zecharias & Elizabeth
According to Julius Africanus, c.220AD, Jesus’ human relations were called ‘Desposyni’, and came from Nazareth & Cochaba. Members of this family were still alive in his own time.
Eusebius, the Church Historian of the 4th Century, quotes Hegesippus (d.180AD) as saying that in the reign on Domitian, the emperor ordered the execution of all those in King David’s line. The grandsons of Jude, the brother of Jesus, were brought before him and admitted that they were descended from David, and also Christians.
They showed Domitian that they were farmers and that the Kingdom they awaited was not an earthly one. Domitian viewed them as being too simple to be a threat and released them. Because they were of Christ’s family and had borne testimony they were made leaders of the church, and they survived to the reign of Trajan, when another persecution occurred against Christians and the House of Judah. In this time Simeon the son Clopas and cousin to Jesus, was martyred at the age of 120. Later tradition gives these two grandnephews of Jesus the names James and Zoker.
Simeon, the son of Clopas, mentioned above and martyred in 107AD, was the second Bishop of Jerusalem, having succeeded James, the brother of Jesus, in 62AD. Eusebius tells us that the succeeding Bishops of Jerusalem, to the year 135AD, were all circumcised Hebrews, but then the emperor Hadrian expelled all Jews from Jerusalem and so gentile Christians took over the position. Later commentators have taken this to mean that all these Hebrew Bishops were of Jesus’s family, and the last Hebrew Bishop was Judah Kyriakos, traditionally said to have been of the family of the James and Zoker, descendants of Jude.
According to an historian of Christianity in Persia, Bar Hebraeus (d.1286), other members of the Desposyni travelled to Persia and became Bishops of Seleucia-Ctesiphon.
Abris (Abrosius), of the family of Joseph the carpenter, was already in Seleucia-Ctesiphon, but on a visit to Antioch was chosen by Simeon, the Bishop of Jerusalem, to succeed the recently deceased Mari as Bishop in Persia. He was Bishop for 17 years. He was succeeded by Abraham, of the family of Jacob (James) the brother of Jesus, and was also consecrated in Antioch. He was Bishop for 12 years. He was succeeded by Yokab, also of the family of Joseph the carpenter. Yakob was residing in Jerusalem, but was sent to Persia and was Bishop for 18 years.
Another attested member of the Desposyni appears on the South coast of Turkey. In the time of the emperor Decius there was a Christian called Conon, living as a gardener in Magydus, near present day Antalya. He was arrested, and taken to the local governor as a Christian. He was asked who he was, and he claimed to be a native of Nazareth and a kinsman of Jesus. Nails were knocked into his feet and he was forced to run before a chariot, resulting in his death, c.250AD.
There is also a Welsh belief (10th Century or earlier) that the ancestor of the kings of Gwynedd, Beli Mawr, was married to Anna, the cousin of Mary the mother of Jesus.
Finally, within some of the Arthurian romance cycles, there is the 13th Century belief that Joseph of Arimathea fathered a family line known as the Fisher Kings, who were guardians of the Holy Grail in Britain.

“Salome with the Head of John the Baptist” (1607) by Caravaggio (1571-1610)
The Desposyni, as being blood-descendants of Mary, Jesus' mother, are historical fact. They are mentioned in historical records through the fourth century, A.D.
What madness deludes you? For in you, and not proceeding from you, he wills all this to be found, which you seek outside you and not within yourselves. Such is the vice of the common man, to despise everything his own, and always to lust after the strange.
… The life, the light of men, shineth in us, albeit dimly, and as though in darkness. It is not to be sought as proceeding from us, though it is in us and not of us, but of Him to Whom it belongeth, Who hath deigned to make us his dwelling place.
… He hath implanted that light in us that we may see in its light the light of Him who dwelleth in light inaccessible, and that we may excel his other creatures. In this especially we are made like unto Him, that He hath given us a spark of His light.
Thus the truth is to be sought not in ourselves, but in the image of God which is within us. ~Gerhard Dorn; Philosophia meditative.

Much of what we know about the Holy Grail comes from the Grail romances, which appeared out of the area of the Lorraine (formerly associated with the Merovingian dynasty) in the early twelfth century. In fact, Godfroi de Bouillon, our consummate leader of the first crusade, was according to medieval legend and folklore, descended from Lohengrin, the Knight of the Swan; and Lohengrin, in the Grail romances was the son of Perceval or Parzival, the chief protagonist of all the early Grail stories.
Initially the Grail romances rested heavily on a pagan foundation -- a ritual connected with the cycle of the seasons, the Death and Rebirth of the year. (Recall the spring equinox ritual the Cathars followed during the critical two week truce before capitulation from the Siege of Montsegur? -- and the subsequent escape of four parfaits with the "treasure" of the Templars?) In its most primordial origins the pagan rituals would appear to involve a vegetation cult, closely related in form to, if not directly derived from, those of Tammuz (aka Dumuzi -- the consort of Inanna), Attis, Adonis, and Osiris in the Middle East. However, during the mid to late twelfth century, the originally pagan foundation for the Grail romances underwent a curious and extremely important transformation. At that time, the Grail became specifically associated with Christianity.
In 1470, Sir Thomas Malory brought the question up again in his famous La Morte d'Arthur. In Malory's time, the Holy Grail was alleged to be the cup of the Last Supper, in which Joseph of Arimathea later caught Jesus' blood. According to some accounts, the Grail was brought by Mary Magdalen to France! As early as the fourth century legends described the Magdalen fleeing the Hold Land and being set ashore near Marseilles -- where, for that matter, her relics are still venerated. According to medieval legends she carried with her to Marseilles the Holy Grail. But the early legends say that the Magdalen did bring the Grail into France, but not in the form of a cup. The simple association of Grail and cup was, in fact, a relatively late development. Malory perpetuated this facile association, and it has been a truism ever since.
In Chretien de Troyes Le Roman de Perceval or Le Conte du Graal, written around 1188, the chief protagonist is named Perceval, who is described as the "Son of the Widow Lady". [As will be seen, the “Widow Lady” refers to Mary Magdalen!]
According to the romance, Perceval leaves his widowed mother and sallies forth to win his knighthood. During his travels he comes upon an enigmatic fisherman -- the famous "Fisher King" -- in whose castle Perceval is offered refuge for the night. That evening the Grail appears, carried by a damsel. Perceval does not know that he is expected to ask the question: "Whom does one serve with it." By not asking the correct question, Perceval awakes the next morning to discover the castle is empty and that his omission has caused a disastrous blight on the land. Later still he learns that he himself is one of the "Grail family" and that the mysterious Fisher King who was "sustained" by the Grail was in fact his own uncle. The poem ends, in part, apparently, due to Chretien's mysterious death in 1188, and a fire at Troyes at the same time.
Subsequent versions refer to the Grail as a stone, which provides its keeper with eternal life: "There never was a human so ill but that, if he one day sees that stone, he cannot die within the week that follows. And in looks he will not fade. His appearance will stay the same, be it maid or man, as on the day he saw the stone, the same as when the best years of his life began, and though he should see the stone for two hundred years, it will never change, save that his hair might perhaps turn gray. Such power does the stone give a man that flesh and bones are at once made young again. The stone is also called the Grail."
This has the appearances of The Philosopher’s Stone, the basis for Alchemy. One might also recall that it was Peter (the rock or stone) on which Jesus established his church. And in this version of the Grail romance, the Grail is specifically linked with the Crucifixion and the Magdalen. But don’t leap to any conclusions, just yet.
Throughout the various versions, one common factor seems to be the apparent crucial importance placed on lineage and genealogy, pedigree, heritage, and inheritance. Which raises another point. In many of the earliest manuscripts the Grail is called the Sangraal. In effect, instead of San Graal, it may be that the word should have been written Sang Raal -- or to employ the modern spelling, Sang Royal, i.e. Royal blood. The Grail is thus associate more with blood or bloodline than with a simple cup.
Another connection is the legends of King Arthur, who appears to have lived in the late fifth and/or early sixth century -- corresponding to the peak of Merovingian ascendancy in Gaul. In fact, the term Ursus -- "bear" -- applied to the Merovingian royal line, may have been borrowed in an attempt to confer a special dignity on a British chieftain, i.e. Arthur (whose name also means "bear"). The implication is that the Grail itself, the "blood royal", refers to the blood royal of the Merovingian dynasty -- a blood that was deemed to be sacred and invested with magical or miraculous properties.
Only it is not quite that simple.
Consolidating all of these seemingly disjointed and sometimes conflicting stories, we come to a series of conclusions. One, Clearly the Grail is closely associated with Jesus, and may well relate to a bloodline or lineage.
Two, the Grail romances are for the most part, set in Merovingian times, but none were composed until after Godfroi de Bouillon -- fictional scion of the Grail family and actual scion of the Merovingians -- was installed, in everything but name, as King of Jerusalem.
Finally, the Magdalen figures prominently in that it was she who brought the Holy Grail -- the "Blood Royal" -- into France!
The royal blood -- the “blue bloods” -- may be less tied with a lineage, than with a blood type. As previously suggested, any strict adherence to a specific blood line is dependent upon the royalists not spreading their seed elsewhere -- or for the female side, in accepting seed from less than royal subjects. Basically, in-breeding would do little for the lineage, and new blood, while potentially genetically beneficial, would not carry the same power -- supposedly. But perhaps, it is not purely the blood of royal folk -- even when related by direct descent to Jesus Christ, King David, or other celebrated patriarch.
There is, in fact, much to recommend the concept that it is the matrilineal line which is really the important line. It is possibly the mitochondria DNA that only the mother can pass to her daughter. And thus, with the patriarchal insistence on following the lines from father to son, the basic, true lineage of power might have been missed! Wouldn’t that have been a bummer for the male-chauvinist pigs!?
There is also a possible final connection -- the one between the mothers, daughters, and the Star Fire of the Goddess, aka the Anunnaki females.

The Desposyni
The term Desposyni is applied to purported descendants of Jesus and his surrounding
family, all of whom were of the House of David. Clearly this is an explosive
claim in certain circles because it directly threatens the Roman Church’s claim of rule
through an Apostolic Succession rather than through inheritance via the House of
David. Furthernore it indicates that there were heirs to Jesus’ claim to be the King of the
Jews, a claim that has been supported by a number of more-adventursome scholars
recently. And the concept that Jesus had a wife/consort and children gives a very different
picture, one of a human and one who could well be spiritually a son of God but
certainly not physically.

This line is traced by various authors in “speculative history” and in oral tradition.

it shows a path for the transmission of knowledge through early Spain to Ireland
and thence to Wales and into England.

Lines from Abraham and David through Makhir/Theodoric of Toulouse
This line was not widely known until the Web gave it visibility. It is the result of some
excellent research done by Arthur J. Zuckerman and published in the book A Jewish
Princedom in Feudal France 768-900, New York: Columbia University Press, 1972.
Many permutations of lines from Makhir run through all of the European royal
families and early American colonists, especially those in New England. Anyone
who is descended from the early Plantagenets has them.
There are two possible explanations for the ancestry of Makhir. I give Zuckerman’s first,
which indicates that Makhir came either directly from Babylonia or was the son of a
man who came to Spain from Babylonia. The second is that Makhir was actually of
Merovingian heritage. It is possible that were Merovingians who were practicing
Jews in Septimania. Septimania had a large Jewish population, much of which was
descended from people who had settled there before the Diaspora. Where did they
go? When the Roman Church began to persecute Jews in France in the early days of
the Inquisition, some Jews moved to Italy and others to Spain until they were ultimately
driven out of Spain. A great many Jews were slaughtered right along with
everyone else in the Albigensian Crusade. The crusaders killed everyone, saying
“God will know his own.” Some people became Crypto-Jews, that is, they outwardly
converted to Christianity but privately maintained their Jewish faith and practices.
Others left France and moved into what is now Germany and became a part of the
Ashkenazic community there.

Lines from Abraham (Abram) to Muslims in Spain and into European Royalty
There has been a certain amount of conjecture about whether or not Isabel/Zaida,
Maria, Ximena (shown in bold below) was actually the mother of Theresa of Castile.
The conjecture has become more accepted recently, especially when a Latin scholar
actually read the documents.
Line 1

The Desposyni and Descendants of Abraham Line 2
Historians differ on whether this line is valid or not. It depends on whether one
thinks that Joseph of Arimathea was really the second son of Joseph and Mary and thus
carried the title for the second son in the House of David “ha-Rama-theo.” In any case,
there is reasonable conjecture that Joseph ha-Rama-theo was a wealthy tin merchant
who would have visited tin mines in Wales. People in this group traveled more extensively
than was once believed.

Modern Nonsense
There is currently an active market in Europe and America for taking the medieval myths further. In Holy Blood, Holy Grail (1982), Hugh Baigent, Richard Leigh and Henry Lincoln developed their theory that the Holy Grail was not the cup used at the Last Supper, but the Holy Bloodline of a family descended from Jesus himself. Dan Brown has developed the same idea in fictional form in The DaVinci Code (2003). These writers speculate that Mary Magdalene was the wife of Jesus, and that the two of them had a son.
In some medieval stories Mary Magdalene was identified with Mary of Bethany, and in others she was said to have accompanied Joseph of Arimathea to Marseilles after Jesus’ crucifixion. In Baigent’s extension of the medieval story, Mary Magdalene brought her son to Marseilles as well. Supposedly, that son became the ancestor of certain European royal families, notably the Merovingians, who were the earliest royal family of the Franks, forerunners of the French. In support of this theory, Baigent et al. offer an alternative etymology for San Graal (the Holy Grail); they call it the Sang Real (the Blood Royal). They also ornament their theory with many authentic medieval legends. For example, Godfroi de Bouillon, the 11th century Crusader ruler of Jerusalem, was said by his contemporaries to have been the son or grandson of Lohengrin, even though he lived some 600 years later, even assuming that there was an historical Lohengrin.
Nevertheless, the meat of Holy Blood, Holy Grail rests on the forged Lobineau genealogies, and the monomania of Pierre Plantard, a Frenchman who in the early 1960s sought to prove that he is a descendant of the Merovingians though Dagobert II, an obscure 7th century dynast who is not known to have left descendants. Moreover, there is no evidence of a secret Priory of Sion that has worked through the centuries to promote the rule of these soi disant descendants of Jesus, nor is there evidence that the Roman Catholic church has sought though the centuries to exterminate them.
Despite the dubious material used by Baigent et al., the royal families of modern Europe, and a great many noble families, are in fact descended from the Merovingians, as are many ordinary people in northern and western Europe and the Americas.
